Here at C&O we understand that your computer is important to your business and your everyday lifestyle. That is why we came up with six solutions to get your computer running as long and as fast as possible.

1.  Antivirus
Well, this is self-explanatory. Who wants a virus? It’s best to have a strong defense to prevent any new viruses and/or hackers from gaining access to your important files.

2.  System Updates
Running a system update on a regular basis allows your computer to be up-to-date with the latest bugs or security issues that Microsoft has found. This is usually ran automatically, but it is important to make sure that it is turned on from your control panel/system and security.

3.  Fix Hard Drive (HDD) Errors
Sometimes machines don’t work as efficiently as the phrase “Well oiled machine.” Hard Drive errors occur overtime. Just like a car, you will have to replace parts here and there to keep it running efficiently, but before you go spending your hard earned cash and getting a new HDD, Windows have some utilities that will check for errors and even fix them. It’s pretty simple, just go to your HDD from “my computer” and right click on it. Next, go to “properties” then “tools” and run the “error checking utility.” This will find and fix any HDD errors on your computer.

4.  Fix Registry Errors
You’re probably asking yourself what is a registry? Well the computer registry is the repository that stores all information about system hardware and software configuration, system and network settings, and user profiles on your computer. You can say it’s the nerves that allow your brain to communicate with the rest of your body. So imagine if your nerves get messed up because of some crazy bug, virus, etc…
We suggest finding a reliable 3rd party FREE vendor like cc cleaner to get your computer up and running again.

5.  Defragment Your Computer
Defragmenting a computer is a process for cleaning out fragmented files and folders on a hard drive. It’s the same thing as organizing a messy closet to make gaining access to all of your clothes a.k.a. files easier and quicker. Every Windows computer has a defragment option in its system tools. What’s great about Wndows defragment tool is that it lets you know if your computer needs to be defragged or not.

6. Reinstall Your Operating System
If all fails, reinstall your operating system. This allows you to get your computer exactly how it was when you first purchased it. The downfall is that you will loose all software and data on your system. If you decide to go this route we advise to make sure you have a copy of your important software and back up all of your data to prevent any data lost.
